Brett Reed is a veteran of the Australian payroll industry with over 40 years of experience in payroll technology and regulatory compliance. As the Founder of e-PayDay, Brett has transitioned payroll from the MS-DOS era in 1986 to today’s sophisticated cloud-based systems. Brett identified early the benefits technology would provide to employers, including the ability to communicate directly with government services, enabling the automation of many manual tasks. He also realised the significant advantages that real-time data would provide the Government and set about achieving this goal.

Brett is widely recognised as a primary architect in the modernisation of Australian payroll reporting. His deep technical knowledge and collaborative approach have made him a sought-after voice in government and industry circles.


STP Pioneer: Brett was a member of the original Single Touch Payroll Advisory Group (STPAG). Under his leadership, e-PayDay made history on July 6, 2017, by successfully lodging the first-ever STP file processed by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).


Regulatory Advocacy: He maintains active engagement with Australian Government agencies, including the ATO and the Fair Work Commission, to co-design solutions for Single Touch Payroll (STP) and the Payday Super legislation.


Industry Leadership: Brett serves as a key representative on Australian Taxation Office (ATO) Groups and Committees, advocating for the interests of small to medium enterprises (SMEs).
