Payroll News for January 2025
We successfully navigated through 2023, and 2024 seemed to flash past. Upon releasing our new Cloud Payroll Software, we decided to limit our regular email communications with customers. We understand how overwhelming the number of emails received can be and aim to do our bit to lessen this overload.
Our dashboard carousel displays slides that present essential and informative information that requires attention. Our Payroll Newsletters are now available on our website and within e-PayDay Go®. Take this important time of your busy day to learn about the Fair Work Voluntary Small Business Wage Compliance Code and what it means for your payroll processes.
I am proud of the development team's accomplishments since releasing our first cloud payroll beta in 2022. Although we have achieved many significant milestones, there is still much more work to be completed in 2025, so watch this space as we continue on our quest to set a new standard for payroll software in Australia.
Happy PayDays,
Brett

Important payroll news, the Fair Work Voluntary Small Business Wage Compliance Code and you.
Please spend 5 minutes reading our recent article, Payroll News and the Fair Work Voluntary Small Business Wage Compliance Code. It's vital as effective January 1, 2025, employers who deliberately underpay their employees can now face criminal prosecution. Fair Work will not refer a small business employer’s conduct for possible criminal prosecution if it is satisfied that the employer complies with the Code and that an honest mistake has been made. We provide employers with a straightforward approach to reducing non-compliance risk and avoiding potential penalties.
What is happening with Payday Super?
2025 is shaping up to be a big year with the release of many new features. We are also an ATO STP Data Improvements – Payday Super Technical Working Group member. The industry is currently addressing several issues arising from the Government's requirements, and we still don't have everything we need to start making the necessary programming changes to e-PayDay Go®. Everyone within the working group is committed to avoiding outcomes that could harm businesses or lead to incorrect Superannuation Guarantee Charges (SGC) being raised. Government consultation is going slowly, with lots of vigorous debate from industry, where detailed requirements are still a long way off, and legislation has yet to be tabled in parliament. We will keep you updated on the progress. As a reminder, you have always been able to pay Superannuation on pay day using e-PayDay Go®. You can also separate OTE into different types, SGAA or Industrial.
We greatly value your opinion and would appreciate your review of e-PayDay Go®.
We frequently receive inquiries about e-PayDay Go® reviews and would appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to share your thoughts. While we ask for feedback whenever you obtain support, we want to be able to share your opinions with others. Your feedback is invaluable, and I would genuinely appreciate your comments. Please keep in mind that any review you leave will be shared publicly.
e-PayDay is proud to be an Industry Partner of the Australian Payroll Association.
We recently became an Industry Partner of the Australian Payroll Association (APA).
APA supports payroll teams nationwide, regardless of size, and provides guidance based on extensive knowledge of the requirements. They collaborate with employers and deliver the resources to implement best-practice payroll procedures. They cater to all levels of payroll expertise and offer various training options to suit everyone. This includes one-day, face-to-face seminars and online courses covering Payroll Fundamentals and Advanced sessions. They also provide nationally accredited qualifications through the Australian Payroll Institute, available at the Certificate IV or Diploma level. Additionally, they offer tailored in-house courses that focus specifically on your organisation’s needs.
Employee Spotlight
We would like to introduce our two most valued employees, Nandi and Zulu.

The Barketing Department, Office Security and our Employee Mental Health Support are all under their expert management. When you chat with us on the phone, you might occasionally catch a moment of their lively discussions in the background. If you do, they’re probably sharing insights or requests that they’re eager to explore. We strive to keep our conversations clear by using noise-cancellation technology to minimize any background chatter from our hard-working team members!
Cartoon Corner
Many years ago, we obtained limited rights from Randy Glasbergen to use a selection of his cartoons in our newsletters. Sadly, he is no longer with us, but his wicked sense of humour lives on through his work. While not everyone appreciates humour the same way, we believe it plays a significant role in supporting our mental health and that of our customers.
In our interactions with the Government and a diverse array of customers, we often find that viewing situations through a humorous lens helps us navigate our challenges. If, by any chance, one of the selected cartoons offends you, we encourage you to move on, as life is too short to dwell on trivial matters. Please refrain from reaching out to express your offence, as our guaranteed humorous response may only add to your discomfort.
